Fantasmagorie

I've managed to locate one of the oldest cartoons out there for you animation people. What we have here is Émile Cohl's "Fantasmagorie". The cartoon was made in 1908. Which would make 100 years old this year. Anyway, the film was primarily stick figures that interacted with the characters around them. No backgrounds...in fact...i think this film predates backgrounds. It was all shot on negative film, which was an early special effect. Because by shooting it on negative film, they made the cartoon like a chalkboard drawing.

We've come a long way in 100 years. I think it's great that this film still exists today so we could see it and sort of compare to animation today. This French animator pioneered animation and is still admired a century later.
